Aston Quay
Dublin, Ireland
Shelbourne Development purchased this landmark historic building on the banks of the river Liffey beside O’Connell Bridge in Dublin’s city centre from Virgin Retail in March 2002. In August 2002, Shelbourne Development obtained unopposed planning from Dublin City Council for a refurbishment of the façade and the development of retail/leisure areas on ground floor, first floor and basement, together with the conversion of the second and third floors into one-off apartments for the upper end of the owner occupier market. The Musgrave Group, one of Ireland’s largest private companies with a turnover of €2.2 billion, and Crunch Fitness are the principal commercial tenants. The apartments enjoy tremendous views over the city centre, are all individual in their appearance based on the intrinsic attributes of both Georgian and Victorian elements and have the modern amenities expected of a high end apartment. All of the apartments, except the Andree Putman designed Apartment No. 10, were sold. The commercial element of Aston Quay was sold to a group of private investors realising a substantial profit.
