The Chicago Trophy

Shelbourne Development is proud to be the presenting sponsor of The Chicago Trophy, an international soccer tournament featuring four premier teams from around the globe. Sevilla FC, the number one ranked club in the world, will compete against Mexico's Club Deportivo Toluca, Wisla Krakow of Poland and Italy's Reggina Calcio for a trophy designed by internationally renowned artist, architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, the creative genius behind The Chicago Spire. The inaugural tournament was held in Chicago's Soldier Field from July 27 - July 29, 2007.

Chicago was chosen as the host city, due to the city's deep soccer tradition, strong ethic communities, outstanding facilities and exceptional track record of hosting major international sporting competitions. Shelbourne and event organizer PLATINUM ONE plan to build The Chicago Trophy into the leading club soccer event in North America, and much like The Chicago Spire will help cement Chicago as the world's premier center of modern architecture, Shelbourne expects The Chicago Trophy will catapult the city as a haven for global sports.
